Web Design

I had my first website in 8th grade, which I had hosted by a now-defunct $1 hosting company, under this same magnethead794.com domain name. This only lasted a year however, and while I took a Web Mastering class in 9th grade, it was not until 10th grade (While I was taking a Digital Arts class in High School) that I re-joined the internet world, with the domain auto-chat.net. On this domain, hosted by a friend of mine and Domained through Godaddy, I had alot of technical automotive calculations, calculators, and a few specialty applications. I kept this website for 2 years, before going back to my roots and re-enlisting magnethead794.com, this time hosted and domained through Godaddy.

While I do not have any formal technology certifications, I took a computer class in every year of high school, and have had my own computer since 7th grade. My technology education consists of the following:

CLASSES:

8th Grade: BCIS
9th Grade: Web Mastering (Core HTML)
10th Grade: Digital Arts (Flash Animation, Graphic Design, Video Producing and Editing)
11th Grade: Computer Maintanance (A+ Certification class, I have NOT taken the A+ test, however)
12th Grade: Computer Science (JAVA programming)

BOOKS:

Designing Active Server Pages (ASP) by Scott Mitchell
250 Web Design Secrets by Molly E. Holzschlag
MySQL Weekend Crash Course by Jay Greenspan

I am familiar with the Wordpress (of which this website operates upon a heavily modified form of) and Joomla! Content Management Systems, vBulletin and Invision Power Message Boards, HTML, CSS, Javascript, and most (but not all) of PHP and MySQL. However, for PHP and MySQL, because every website is different, these two programming languages can be the most powerful of the group, but can also be the most powerful. Thus, I have only memorized the basics of both, and consult other literary sources as needed.

I make things painless for you, the consumer, and you don’t have to worry about handing out credit card numbers or any billing information. Often times it only takes one or two faxes or emails of what the consumer wants their site to look like, I get them set with a domain and hosting from GoDaddy, and I can have a full BETA website ready for the consumer to analyse within 48 to 72 hours. Yes, it takes longer because I have you, the consumer, set up the accounts with Godaddy (my preferred registrar) or the registrar of your choice, however, it means that nobody has to deal with any financial information. Along these lines, I prefer payment via paypal when possible, though personal exchange is accepted.

GoDaddy is an All-American company based out of Arizona with English-speaking and task-oriented Customer Support, and I have never had a problem that hasn’t been rectified within a 20 minute phone call’s time. I have dealt with MANY service providers though clients, and I can tell you first hand that GoDaddy is far and away the best in Customer Service. I do not restrict you, the concumer, upon which registrar you would like to register with, nor am I employed or affiliated with GoDaddy, but they are simply my prefered registrar just from ease of support.

As for pricing, I am very flexible based on the wants of the consumer. Because there is often not a great need of time to maintain a website once it is built, I often work with the consumer to include a pro-rated, low-cost assistance package into the base price of building a website, and every transaction includes an itemized invoice so that the consumer can see how the final pricing comes about. Final pricing varies from website to website, but the table below is a rough guidline for the 4 most common programming languages. I have not included graphic design into this table for two reasons: One, if it is a small graphic work, I will roll it into the existing cost for the website. Two, if it is a large project (such as a Flash Animation Menu), I will price it separately, depending on complexity and time. I will also accept “Best Offers”, even if they are at levels below the table listed below. This is because I would much rather be under-paid and have the opportunity to do your website, than miss that opportunity altogether.

  HTML CSS JavaScript PHP
0-2 Hours $6.00 /hr $6.00 /hr $6.00 /hr $6.50 /hr
2-4 Hours $6.50 /hr $6.50 /hr $6.50 /hr $7.00 /hr
4-6 Hours $7.00 /hr $7.00 /hr $7.00 /hr $7.50 /hr
6-8 Hours $7.00 /hr $7.50 /hr $7.50 /hr $8.00 /hr

Note that if you already have an established website, and are simply looking for a Data or Content Manager, I can do that too. Because of the nature of Content Managing, static pricing tables are more complex to standardize. Please contact me and we can work out a quote and agreement.

Compare that pricing table to the companies listed below. Please bear in mind that I am a Full-Time college student while working as a Part-Time employed Webmaster, and simply use Technology to occupy my spare time when I am not working or learning. Thus, I cannot quite be called a Full-Time Technician, and depending on the size of the project, I may have to break the project down into days so as to fit it into my schedule. Admittently, if you need things done on an emergency level, I may not be the right person to do it. You may contact me to query my schedule, however there are no guarantees that I will always have time for every emergency or every crisis, every time. This is why I keep my rates low- I know that I can’t make everybody happy, and consumers want the most they can get, while spending the least money. Thus, I keep my prices low, and while i know I am not accessable 24/7, I still give the consumer alot [of work] for a little [of money]. Now that is what I call a bargain.
